In an emergency dial 999 and ask for Police, Fire, Ambulance, Coastguard or Mountain Rescue.

There are many places in our area that have poor mobile phone signal. See www.emergencysms.org.uk for details on how to register your mobile phone so that you can send text messages to the emergency services where there is insufficient signal for a voice call.

On 1 April 2013, Scotland’s eight police forces, the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA) and the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS), merged to form Police Scotland.

For all non-emergencies and general enquiries, 101 is the number you should call if you need to contact our local police. It is a Scotland-wide number where you can be put through to our local police station. You can no longer call them on an 01397 local number.  You can call 101 to report a crime that has already happened, seek crime prevention advice or make us aware of any policing issues in our local area. Using 101 for situations that do not require an immediate police response helps keep 999 available for when there is an emergency.
Dial 101 any time it isn’t 999.
