We are pleased that the 30 mph wheelie-bin stickers have now arrived and are being used.
One of our residents spotted 30 mph repeater signs affixed to wheelie-bins elsewhere in Scotland and brought the idea to the Community Council several months ago. We had support from the Police from the outset.
The stickers reinforce the message that within any system of street lights there is an automatic 30 mph limit, unless signed otherwise. The wee 300mm (12″) diameter plates that you will see fixed to lighting columns on the Blàr Mòr (40) and on side streets (20) show the variation from the automatic lit area 30 mph limit. This is why roads authorities will not erect 30 mph repeater signs – because we are meant to respect this limit routinely whenever we see street lights.
We regularly get complaints about speeding vehicles and we do need to encourage more considerate driver behaviour so we encourage everyone living in the 30 mph restricted length of Corpach to use these stickers.
