Heather’s Walk 2015

The sun shone for the 180 people that did Heather’s Walk on 31st May. The hall was busy with all the lovely stalls, many raffles and auction. The ladies/two lovely girls kept us all well fed. The fun went on to Tradewinds in the evening with great music, raffles and the auction. It stayed dry for the annual Strip the Willow out on the road with tourists joining in. Sarah, myself and all the volunteers thank you for helping us to raise the great amount of £6000 (and still counting).

When Sarah Walker and Margaret Simpson started the walk in 2008 in memory of their friend Heather it was to be for one year. Heather had been in the Highland Hospice for care so they decided to hold the walk to raise money for the Hospice. It was so successful they carried on – this was their eighth year! Sadly we hear it will also be the last. Huge cheers for Margaret and Sarah for a truly fantastic fundraising effort, raising about £70,000 in total, that has provided so much fun, fresh air and community spirit, as well as raising money for a very worthy cause. You have been inspirational. Huge cheers too to everyone else who has worked so hard to make it such a success year on year, and to the hundreds of people of all ages who have taken part.
