We have been in the habit of publishing reports on progress with the New Belford, or more correctly, Lochaber Health and Social Care Redesign since the scope is much greater than simply the new hospital on the Blàr Mòr.

While the community stakeholders welcomed NHS Highland’s announcement of the approval of the Initial Agreement for the New Belford in July, they were extremely disappointed with the Scottish Government’s intimation that the earliest starting date on site would be April 2026.   Since a starting date of June 2024 had previously been the target, community representatives are determined not to let the matter rest and so community councils in Lochaber have written collectively to the respective Cabinet Secretaries, namely Mr Humza Yousaf for Health and Social Care and Mr John Swinney, Acting Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Economy.  You can read the letter here.
